My dad has been diagnosed with liver cancer. We dont know his prognosis yet. What can we expect? No one this close to me has had cancer before. Family devastated
My mum has recently been diagnosed with late stage lung cancer that has spread to her bone and neck. She starts radiotherapy on Monday. It's really scary and we don't really know what to expect. So far the nurses have been amazing but mum is in shock and everything feels like it's moving so fast.
Sandra my best bit of advice is to make sure someone other than dad is at all the appointments. When you are going through this it's brilliant to have another pair of ears to listen to what the medical team tell you. I have no idea where you live but see if there is a Maggies centre near you ....they are fantastic help for your dad but also for his friends and family . They are a sensible ear and a calming approach at what can be very stressful . They even have a big kitchen table where you can just pop in for a coffee anytime and chat to someone - no pressure but I have found them fantastic . Best wishes
