Invasive Ductal Carcinoma

On friday i was given the news that i have Invasive Ductal Carcinoma....grade 3.(I'm 56) I also have a suspicious looking lymph node to be looked at again next week. Then a week later results....with surgery probably 3 weeks after that.

I have 3 friends who had breast cancer and they're all doing just fine....LIKE I WILL TOO!!

  • Hi I too have just had results today for the same I have been given options for treatment but still have to have ct scan to see if it has spread anywhere else. Don't no what to think or how I feel about it all at the moment I'm 45 and have four children.
  • Hello

    Just wanted to say hi.

I love your attitude...thats the spirit!

Im also just over a year clear :-)

I hope the tests go well for you next week

    take care ness x

  • Hello, I was diagnosed with IDC (Invasive Ductal Carcinoma) in Feb 2017.  I had a double masectomy and reconstruction surgery on 04/13/17.  I had 7 lymph nodes removed and praise GOD the surgical pathology report came back as "NO CANCER" on my lymph nodes so the cancer did not spread to my lymph nodes.

It's been two months of my masectomy and I developed lymphedema.  I am currently doing physical therapy to help me with my lymphedema.

Eventhough my lymph nodes were cancer free my oncologist suggested to have 12 rounds of chemo to lessen the reacurrence of cancer by 15%.  Otherwise I had a 30% chanse of reacurrence because my cancer was very aggresive.  I had triple negative.

I currently have taken 3 rounds of chemo and have 9 more to go.  I decided to do the chemo because of I have children and husband.  I want to be there for my kids, to see them grow.

Just remember cancer is a journey and it's not an easy one.  But with the support of your family you can do it!!

  • Thanks for the reply Ness!

I got a call saying i will have to wait 2 weeks for lymph node biopsy which was disappointing...a week seems too long, but what can you do?! I had a read on here about chemo as that was bothering me more....but it seems in general it's not as bad as i feared. I cant ask my friends for advice yet as my family dont know(except hubby).I'm delighted for you that you have remained clear!

    bfn Nessie x
