Lymphoma on nose. Treatment a nightmare

I was misdiagnosed first. Told I had sun damage which on going to another specialist turned out to be a lymphoma. To get to the treatment stage had taken a year !. I went for my first radium treatment today & at first I got a bad Bout of claustrophobia. They gave me a Valium & after 30 mins I was able to be treated.

Its a really nasty procedure. I had to wear a mask have wax pieces shoved up my nose & then the whole lot was clipped to a backboard behind my head. If anyone suffers from a fear of enclosed spaces the whole thing is a nightmare. I have to have 11 more of these Help !

    Hi Carolde,

This sounds horrible. Why not ask your care team if they can give you some medication that you can take before your radium sessions? If you took these before you went to the hospital you should be relaxed enough to let treatment progress without delay.

You will probably find that you don't need to take anything after you've had a couple of sessions, as it will all become second nature for you.

Thinking of you and hoping that you soon make it to session 12. We are always here if you want to chat.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thanks Jolamine,

i took a Valium today & it helped a lot. Today's treatment was easier . 2 down 10 to go & then 3 weeks in France. Chilling.!

    its just what I need.

    Hi Carolde,

I am glad to hear that you found your session today so much easier. Keep thinking of France and you’ll be there before you know it – just what you need when you’ve finished your chemo.

Hope the other chemo sessions get easier still.

    Take care,

    Jolamine xx
