Pancreatic cancer

My husband has just been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, we are devastated. We are both getting really frustrated with the hospital which seems to be dragging their feet getting him any treatments. He first went to see his own doctor on 20th March, things seem to move very fast in the first few weeks, within four weeks he was seeing a consultant who told him he had pancreatic cancer and further treatment would happen quite quickly. This was six weeks ago and we still seem no closer to having any treatment.  He had a CT scan 4 weeks ago, I had a PET scan last Thursday which shows there are two dots in his lungs. He still hasn’t seen a surgeon or an oncologist. We are just wondering if they would possibly still give him the Whipple and Chemo for the two small dots he has in his lungs, have any of you ever experienced this before? Any help would be extremely grateful............ Is there anyone we can complain to about the patient care and time that it's all taking?

  • Hi Tinak, I'm very sorry that your husband has been diagnosed with PC, it must have been a terrible shock. My husband was diagnosed 2 years ago so I have an inkling of what you're going through. I'm surprised that you've been left waiting in this way for an appointment to see a specialist, it doesn't seem right. My advice would be to call or email the helpline at Pancreatic Cancer UK as they can give you expert answers your questions.
