On going journey

Hi Every One

My name is Denise I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer December 2015 & had a lumpectomy & all lymph nodes removed from under my right arm pit then under went radio therapy. I was not able to have chemo as I also have PBC ( curosis of the liver apparently this mainly affects women) & in the 4th stage. Then in March this year I went for a check up as I kept getting infections in my affected breast my collar bone was slightly tender so had ct & bone scan done & they found black dots on the base of my spine & in 2 places on my right hip.

I was asked to go & see them that week & they told me I had a fractured rib & secondary breast cancer, then had an appointment with oncologist she said there was no cure but could be treated. So now I have monthly treatment 3 monthly ct scans & 3 monthly visits with the oncologist I asked if I would have to have this the rest of my life she said yes. I am struggling at the moment to have the Same attitude that I had with my first diagnosis but I'm sure I will get there.

  • I'm sorry to hear your cancer has returned Denise.

It's understandable why you may be struggling at the moment but I just want you to know you're not alone. Many members here have been in the same position and I'm sure some of them will post soon to offer their support and share their experiences with you.

If you want to talk to anyone about this our cancer nurses are just a phone call away on 0808 800 4040. This number is free from a UK landline and is open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Take things a day at a time Denise and allow yourself as much time as you need to accept this situation. Once you have done that I think you'll find it easier to cope with.

    Kind Regards,
