    Hi Lewis,

I am sorry to hear about your wife’s diagnosis. Cancer affects the whole family. Can you accompany your wife to her appointments? The other thing that you can do is to help your wife to draw up a list of questions which both of you have – yes, write down your millions of questions!.

Our minds tend to go to mush when we are so up- tight about our appointments and it can be difficult to remember all of our questions and the consultant’s replies.

Your wife will feel frightened of all that is to come. Again, you can help by maintaining an open dialogue with her. Another thing that you can do is to just be there for her. Try using some distraction techniques to take her mind off all that is happening – take her out for a meal, to the cinema or theatre, to visit friends and family, etc.

I hope that her hysterectomy goes well. Do let us know how she gets on and we will do our best to support you both.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine
