Uterine cancer - waiting time?

I know this is like asking how long is a piece of string, but I like to have things sorted in my mind.

I was diagnosed with "unusual and potentially aggressive" uterine cancer 10 days ago. I was told I would have a CT scan within two weeks, plus an appointment with the consultant, then pre-med, then surgery.

Or possibly chemo first, then surgery, depending on whether it has spread.

The scan is booked for this weekend (15 days after diagnosis). How long is it likely to take before I see the consultant/have surgery/start chemo?

The doc who gave me the diagnosis said that as it was "unusual" and fast growing, it would be treated as aggressive.

I have various things planned for the next few months - if I'm not going to be around, I need to let other people know!

  • I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis oneinthree but I'm glad options are available to you to treat it.

I think our cancer nurses may be able to answer a few of your questions so if you would like to chat to them about this do give them a call. Their freephone number is 0808 800 4040 and their lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. Do have a chat about this with your medical team as well if you can as they will be in the best position to give you a more accurate time frame.

Good luck with your scan this weekend oneinthree and come back and let us know how you're getting on with everything once it begins. We'll be thinking of you and wishing you all the best.

    Kind Regards,
