getting nervous now and worried about the results Any advice please?

  • Hi Florance3,

I noticed that you mentioned you are having a sentinel node biopsy and a wide excision on your thigh today so I just wanted to wish you good luck and let you know we'll be thinking of you.

I'm not sure what time your appointment is but I wanted to give you our cancer nurses telephone number in case you want to have a quick chat with them about what is going to happen. Their freephone number is 0808 800 4040 and they are available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. I have also found some information about this procedure on our website for you to have a look at as well.

Now that I've replied hopefully other members who have been diagnosed with this type of cancer and had this biopsy and excision will be along soon to share their advice and experiences with you.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you for your reply. I had the wide excision yesterday but was told the sentinel node was not taken because the dye drained to lots of nodes. I can't find very much information on this and I was not told what happens next. I don't know now how the surgeons know if it's spread or not? I know I'm waiting for histology from the WIde excision but without the node removal how do I know if I've got mets?

    Thank you

  • Hi Florance,

I'm sorry you weren't told what would happen next. Maybe you could get in touch with your medical team and discuss this with them as they will be in the best position to answer your questions. Our cancer nurses may be able to give you some insight in to this as well. I think I gave you the number already but just in case you can't find it their number is 0808 800 4040, which is open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5pm.

    Kind Regards,
