I'm having my first round of chemo on Thursday. I'm terrified!
I have no idea what to exspect.
Do I need to take anything with me?

Hello,
I understand your being afraid. I was, too. I think you will find that the staff at the facility are used to people being scared and treat you with the utmost compassion. I took a notebook so I could write things down and be organized. That helped me feel "in control" for some reason. I also was lucky to meet people that had been coming for chemo for a while and they were also very comforting. Another thing that surprised me was that it didn't hurt, that I didn't feel any different during the treatment. I felt tired and kind of sour stomach a few days after but I had meds for that. Good Luck, I think you will get through it just fine.

Hi Madimoo,
This may seem like strange advice, but be prepared for an anti-climax and boredom!
My own first chemo felt like such a let down, what seemed like and endless wait (really only about 20 minutes), a canula inserted (similar to the ones used when having a CT scan with contrast and then a drip followed by 2 or 3 hours sitting around. No fuss, no drama just reassuringly routine and boring stuff.
Second time I took my Kindle with me to help pass the time.
Probably best to areange a lift home as you may not feel like driving - it depends on which chemo you are on.
Best wishes
Dave
