New Mum, just been diagnosed with Non Hodgkin Lymphoma

Hi everyone.

I was diagnosed yesterday with Non Hodgkin lymphoma. I have had an operation to remove an enlarged/abnormal lymph node which confirmed the disease.

I am 28 years old and have a 7 week old baby, and this has come as a complete shock.

I found an lump which was rapidly growing. Which is what sent me to the GP. However the ENT consultant wouldn't tell me what type of non Hodgkin lymphoma I have. He would have known as the lymph node that was removed was sent to pathology.

I've been told I need a PET CT scan and then an appt to discuss treatment (Chemo).

Anyone had any thing along the same lines as I've mentioned above? Or coped with chemo and a newborn.

Thabks in advance.

  • Sorry I can't help you, just wanted to wish you well. Sometimes it takes a while for people to respond so hopefully you will hear from someone soon. Tim

  • Hi , I am so sorry to hear your news. I had a breast cancer diagnosis at 26 weeks pregnant and started chemo 2 weeks after my beautiful little girl was born. You can do it, it is hard work but I had a wonderful husband and mum to help. Go easy on yourself and take help and rest. On the plus side my baby was the most wonderful reason to get up and get moving each morning even when I felt dreadful, she kept me going (not to say it was all easy tho). I received an awful lot of help from a charity called mummy's star. They suport mums diagnosed with cancer eithet during pregnancy or upto one year post birth. Their webpage has contact details. They have been so very supportive and also have an online forum where you can talk to mums in a similar situation. Wishing you much love and hugs, you can do it , my little one us 17 months old now xxx
