Complications during LUNG biopsy

Hi. I'm wondering if anyone has had any complications during lung biopsy, especially any complications that caused pain/distress or required treatment? Any help would be great. Thanks.

  • Hi Garryan,

I noticed you hadn't had a reply yet so I just wanted to stop by and welcome you to the forum :)

Our cancer nurses usually say that if something like this occurs then it is best to mention it to your medical team as they will be in the best position to help as well as advise on how to manage this. I know you are hoping to connect with other members who may have experience of this and the best way to do that would be to use our 'search forum' option above. By typing in keywords you will be able to find previous discussions similar to yours where you can chat to others about their experiences. If you haven't had the chance to explore the forum yet do give it a go as the community here are very supportive and will do all they can to help.

Also as I mentioned the cancer nurses earlier I just wanted to let you know that you can chat to them about this as well if you like. Their number is 0808 800 4040 (freephone from a UK landline) and they are available Monday - Friday between 9a.m -5 p.m.

    All the best,

  • Hi Garryan

Are you scheduled for one? My hubby is having one on Wednesday and we're both nervous. His is a CT guided one. No idea how they actually do it, whether it's in the CT scanner or they keep taking him in and out?

We can compare notes afterwards I guess. He's to stay in for a few hours afterwards and take it easy for 24hrs. I'll let you know how he gets on, I'm staying with him.
