Feeling so numb

My dads ultrasound showed changes to his liver, the gp said it's most likely liver cancer. His bloods were all fine and he doesn't have many symptoms, mostly tiredness and sickness. I'm so sad, I can't stop crying. My family is too. He meets with a doctor this Friday for the next step- whatever this will be? How do people cope with a diagnosis because I can't even function with the worry?

  • I found this stage difficult, you go into shock, don't want to eat or sleep but each day brings different emotions and you will find yourself getting stronger and things become more clearer. I can't say anything that will make you feel better but the initial shock will ease and you can start to deal with whatever is next without that total numbness x

  • Thank you I do think it's shock, I'm also overwhelmed with all the information people are giving me about diets and treatments- some even telling me chemo will kill him, some selling me shakes at extortionate costs. Just trying to absorb all this information is stressing me out :( how long does the shock stage last for? Thank you
