Hi Jan,
Welcome to the forum - I'm sorry to read about your husband's diagnosis and know exactly what you both must be going through.
Who gave the diagnosis and have they referred your husband to an Oncologist?
I was initially diagnosed with Oesophageal Cancer by an Upper GI Surgeon who referred me on to an Oncologist and for a CT scan. I saw the Oncologist and got the CT scan results the following week. I started chemo the week after that.
The treatments offered vary depending on the exact size and location of the cancer, so it is hard to say exactly what will happen next.
Best wishes
Dave
Waiting for appointment with oncologist. Been allocated a Macmillan nurse to coordinate everything. We are trying to carry on as normal!
So had PET scan. Now need mri! Should happen next week. Not seen oncologist yet. Everything seems to happen so slowly!
OMG - slowly, slowly indeed!
Finally had all scans, not good -spread to liver, stage 4. Now waiting to start chemo and possibly a trial drug. Life goes on for now!
Well, at least you know exactly what you are dealing with now and that it has "only" spread to one distant organ. A small positive I know, but every little helps.
Good luck with the chemo :-)
Best wishes
Dave
