To learn your mother has cancer is a frightening thing for anyone. If your friends are the sort worth keeping, they will understand your need to talk. I feel sure they will not think your attention seeking at all. I have been a member of this forum for a few years now and I have found young people often have a problem in talking openly and honestly to other especially close relatives. Yet you need to talk about your fears and feelings rather than bottling them up.

Just ask your friends if you can tell them some bad news youve just recieved and as I sayif they are true friends they will will not only listen sympathetically but will also be able to help and support you through the bad times. After all thats what friends are for. Hope this help.

I was in this situation when I was 14. Told my best friend about my parents cancer even though I couldn't understand stuff myself.

If they are true friends they will be with you every step of the way. When I told my friend who I hadn't seen for around 5months but chat regular over text Facebook etc within fifteen min she was knocking on my door and hugged me so tight when I opened it I thought I was going to pass out. You need friends to talk to at this difficult time and I hope yours will be with you every step of the way like mine was when my mum was diagnosed with lung cancer. 

emir, did your mum just have cancer in her ovary? or had it spread elsewhere at all?

It started in her ovary and fallopian tubes, spread to her intestine and then gallbladder before she passed away. 

H sammy , I'm sorry to hear about your mam. My best friend of many many years mam has got cancer twice. She has it now and my friend doesn't know that I ever knew. My mam accidentally told me after my friends mam told her. My friend reminds me iff you , she never even has birthday parties because she doesn't like attention but honestly this is completely different. I understand how hard it must be too tell them but you should not let your worries build up inside you. You should tell a friend that you trust and I can assure you they will support you if they are a friend
