Diagnosed with tongue cancer

Hello all I am a nurse I came to work to this country 5 months ago. I was diagnosed with tongue cancer in the beginning of february. I havent start a yreatment yet. Everything moves so slow. I am still waiting to have  a pet scan and a second biopsy. I am frightened I just dont know what will follow.

  • Sorry to hear what your going through, have you not had a ct scan and MRI yet, I found out last January that I had Tongue cancer within a week I had a ct scan and MRI scan then went back to see my consultant two weeks later for results of scans, I had to have fine needle biopsy on lymph node in neck because it was showing enlarged on scans had to have another one but they still came back inconclusive the consultant said he thought it was reactive due to biopsy on Tongue, in March last year I had laser treatment on Tongue to get rid of cancer because it was an early cancer,

I had an appointment every month to get checked out, and in August last year I found my lymph node in neck was enlarged and within less than a week I had another fine needle biopsy and a day later went to see consultant and he told me it spread to lymph node and in beginning of September I had a neck diesection and in October had two lots of chemo and 7 weeks of radiotherapy.

you need to ring them to make sure they haven't forgot about you, it's upto you to make sure you get the treatment you need, I rang consultant secretary lots of times for operation dates etc so don't leave it
