Thanks in advance

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, Kayleighchristina. I'm sorry to hear that your dad has been diagnosed with lung cancer that's spread. It's good to hear that he's tolerating the treatment well and not being troubled by side effects.

It's completely normal to want to understand how long he'll stay well for, and whether there's anything that can be done to help with this (including mind over matter). Everybody is different so it's not possible to say exactly how long your dad will remain well for. I'd suggest having a chat with his doctors next time you both see them. Or if you'd prefer to talk more generally about this, our team of cancer nurses are available to chat to. You can reach them on 0808 800 4040 (freephone), Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

Hopefully, a friendly member of the forum will be along soon to share their thoughts. Feel free to take a look around and join in with other discussions too; many people here will know just how you're feeling and will be going through similar experiences themselves.

Do let us know how it goes with your dad, we're here if you need to talk.

    Best wishes,

    Helen
