Saying hi

hi I would just like to introduce myself,my dad been diagnosed with lung cancer and was only offered two radiotherapy treatments, he's had both of them now two weeks apart , the last one was four weeks ago and his appointment for check up isn't until another three weeks, I can't sleep at night with worry about what will come ,he is being very brave , but has lots of other health problems without having to cope with this aswel, I have seen it with other family members and feel gutted at the thought of our poor dad having to suffer like that and my mom won't be able to take the stress, I'm trying to be as supportive and hopeful but it's so difficult

  • Hello Sands123,

Thanks for sharing your story and welcome to Cancer Chat. I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble sleeping at night - you seem very caring and your dad is lucky to have you by his side. I am sure both he and your mum appreciate all your support at the moment. If you experience insomnia on a regular basis and it is interfering with your life, it might be worth talking to your GP about it and your doctor may be able to help you as it is important for you to be able to get some rest. Sleep deprivation can be awful and makes us feel even worse.

I hope his check up goes well in three weeks - it is a long time to have to wait. Do keep us updated on his progress if you get a chance to do so. I hope the radiotherapy treatment is going well.

You will meet some people here who are currently going through a very similar experience to you and I hope they will be along soon to share their story with you.

    Best wishes,
