Hi new to forum and looking for advice on Lymphomas

Hi I'm pre (full) diagnosis but had a pain in middle of back from Aug last year. Following tests for kidney stones etc and no positive findings I went for physio but no real response hence went back to doctor for well man clinic, following battery of blood tests got a positive for para cells ?? Fortunately had an MRI scan last weekend on my back and yesterday went back to the specialist who said it is very likely to be a lymphoma (to be confirmed via biopsy this week hopefully but the swelling is very close to spine). CT scan tomorrow to locate the swelling for biopsy but i have pains in my shoulder joints could these be related or just associated with how I am sleeping at night ??

Now the good news I am 49 and I would say very fit, all bloods show normal for major organ function, but para cells still raised. Any advice and guidance very welcome.

Thanks Steve

  • Hi

sorry to hear about allyour tests but sounds like they are doing the right things for you and quite quickly to which is always a plus

I'm not to sure what question you asked I have had lymphoma twice but there are different types of lymphoma hodgkins and non hodgkins and Stages differ also the category whether it's bcell or not this refers to certain symptoms is how my doctor explained it. If you have any questions that I may be able to help with feel free to ask away but like you said you are very fit and lymphoma is a cancer that is very responsive to chemo good luck with everything

    Xx

  • Thanks Sara, yes getting great support through my doctor and all moving really well, just a bit concerned about the secondary pain in the shoulder joints, not sure if this is typical / expected or associated with the deep tissue swelling touching a nerve ??

  • I do get alot of secondary pain in different sites particularly near a swelling for example I had it in my abdomen and got alot of abdomen cramps and pain and it was also in my left collarbone and got pain in my shoulder and neck not near the primary lump it was explained that there was a little pressure in the area and my body was making adjustments to make allowances for the cancer and was adjusting to it being there so it was causing more pressure.as you may be holding yourself slightly different to adjust without knowing it or like you say you may be adjusting in your sleep again this may be being done without knowing it causing pressure and dicomfort. Each case is different though but it could be related but then again it may not be and it may mean it's just a trapped nerve or the way you are sleeping there are lots of different causes but if you are concerned I would chat with your doctor
