  • Hello Ceinwen,

I am so sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with cervical cancer exactly 2 years after your breast cancer diagnosis.

I hope your treatment goes well and that you will meet others through this forum who are in a similar position at the moment. If you have any question at any point on your treatment for example, our nurses are here for you on this free number 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

There is a lovely lady here, [@LauraP]‍ , who has experience of cervical cancer and I am sure she would be happy to share her own experiences with you. You can read her introduction thread here and feel free to respond to her if you wish.

Best wishes and a warm welcome to our forum!

  • The breast cancer seemed so much easier it only took 2 weeks from diagnosis to mastectomy and then the chemo and radiotherapy this time round it's taking forever my first appointment was at the beginning of December ive had a mri and pet scan I also had a general anesthetis so they could have a closer look at everything so now I'm waiting for a appointment to start the treatment the breast care team were so supportive but the team I'm under now are not so I see a different doctor every time so I'm a lot more stressed now I'm also in a lot of pain since they did the punch biopsy I'm getting really stressed with all the waiting xx
  • Ceinwen,

I know all the waiting is hard, just put one foot in front of the other, you'll get through it. I am sorry you don't'  have a supportive team this time. If you can, find  a support group you can go to, or use this website to sort through your feelings. I see a psychologist to this day, although not as often as I used to.  Let me know how it goes, I am here for you!

    xx

  • Thank you it really helps hearing off someone who's been through this horrible thing

  • I'm really sorry to read that you don't feel very well supported this time around. I was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2015 and had to have the treatment you are waiting for. Please try not to be too scared (easier said than done- I know). I have a friend who went through treatment for breast cancer and I would say her side effects from that were a lot worse than mine. That being said everyone is different. It was abut 6-8 weeks from diagnosis to start of treatment for me - I believe it takes a long time as the radiotherapy element is incredibly precise to try to avoid damaging surrounding organs. I wish you all the best and am happy to answer any questions you might have. Keep Strong Rachel x
  • Thank you for your comments it just worries me they keep telling me it's a large tumour it's pressing on my bladder they did tell me I'd be starting treatment within a week and nothing it's scary to think it's getting bigger the longer I wait xx

  • I totally understand. The waiting is the hardest part- my tumour was fairly large with lymph nodes involved. Have been all clear now for 18 months. I was exactly the same, I honestly thought that by the time my treatment started it would have spread everywhere- not the case of course but terrifying all the same. If I was you I'd give them a call to find out what's going on. You'll go mad with worry otherwise. Xx
