My Nanna has been diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer

Hi,

My Nanna has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer which has spread to her lungs. She is 74 and reasonably healthy. Nanna noticed the lump around 6 months ago but hadn't told the family. Nanna had fluid drained from her lungs in hospital. We are now home and awaiting results from the breast clinic.

I feel like my whole world has been turned upside down. She is like my best friend. Has anybody suffered with this type of cancer? Is she likely to feel healthy again for a few months or so. I know these questions are probably impossible to answer.

Thank you

  • Hi Louise! I've just this minute joined here and your post stood out to me! Firstly can i send you big hugs and much love x I too have my Mum in Dove House Hospice at the moment with Lung cancer....Just been told it's getting worse and she's on pallative care and medication....She's 76 and my rock and best friend too! I would say they'll do everything in their  power to look after your Nanna and keep her pain free and looked after well.... they may offer her radiotherapy depending on how she is.... My Mum said she'd being through enough and was too weak to go through with it....My Mum started off with Breast Cancer at 57..... It was caught in time! But then 3 years ago we found out she had rectal Cancer! :-( They operated on her and put a stoma bag in place..... they thought they'd got it all.... But apparently it was a nasty tumour and now it's gone to the lung! All i can say is stay as strong as you can for your Nanna bless her and i send big hugs xxxxx <3
