Waiting for results from Oncotype DX test

Hi all, I got the following results and am hoping someone can share there knowledge or experience if been in this situation?? The results are Grade 3 invasive breast cancer + DCIS=20mm, 0/4 nodes, ER positive, HER negative.

I am now waiting for results from Oncotype DX test which I get on 24th Feb... I can't stop worrying about the results and am trying to prepare myself if I have to have to have chemo. Has anyone had similar experience and what was the outcome?  Every day is like groundhog day, the worry consumes every single thought in my head

  • Wow, I don't sleep at the best of times....doesn't steroids make you gain weight? I've got to the stage now that I think...just throw it at me! Lol xxx

  • I will have between 4 and 6 sessions, he said it all depends on how I'm doing....I hope to God it's 4 !  Will you ring the bell? I damn well will....good and proper! Last orders please!!! Lol xxx

  • What work do you do? I am the warden of a residential home for the elderly, I have 11 residents and was parading around in my turban to show them, they were really sweet bless them....

I wonder if I can stop at 4??? Now that would be a bonus....

  • Wow you lucky gals. I got signed up for 3 of EC and then weekly Paclitaxel for TWELVE weeks. It’s same as 3 but told it’s less toxic and you feel normal lol. I’m definitely not going to do 5 months... that’s just cruel !  I told breast nurse today and she said do as much as you feel like!

If I had 4 I’d be very pleased. Maybe it depends on what chemo.

Thanks about dog info:) so glad. He’s so needy! But makes me laugh and it’ll be nice to have a companion to walk with. I’m going to do the three day starving thing .. stops most side effects so def giving it a try.

I got a wig too! Blonde and a red... always fancied red. And a few hats to open front door so I don’t scare postman lol...I bet the residents loved your turban show!

Saw the most lovely BC nurse today. She demystified whole thing for me and just made me feel normal and not worried about my oncotype score... said it’s just insurance! I might actually sleep tonight ... despite two cats on the bed:)

Will prob start week after next. Not looking forward to steroids but maybe they’ll be ok. We should all be fine for the summer. Going to watch some Catherine Tait... never fails to make me laugh... chemo? Am I bovvered though?!

    xxxxxxxx

  • Thanks so much for the handy chemo hints it’s great to know... and you’re not too far off being done! It’s such a weird thing to do like Marlyn said when we feel so well...

its insurance. Will try and remember that:)

i read somewhere Mane and Tail great shampoo fir bringing it back fast. It’s a horse shampoo! But good fir humans too.. and revitalash for lashes. I got my eyebrows tattooed last week as will look well weird without!

I was just about to start a make up business .. making up over 40’s and giving lessons but won’t be doing that for a bit now. Guess I could do at the hospital:)) Good luck to all of us! Xxx

  • The starving thing has been done by lots of women and it it absolutely lowers side effects. Proper science behind it!

its a man called Valter Longo and he’s funded by top cancer organizations and his work is being trialed and he’s done a few clinical trials. He discovered years ago that if mice had chemo and had been fasting they didn’t get side effects and chemo worked better. It’s was studied and then humans found it worked too. He wrote a book the Longevity diet but you can read online about it. I know women who’ve done it and when they didn’t do it their side effects were worse. Lots in the papers about it. Basically when you fast your cells go into hibernation to protect themselves but the cancer cells are greedy and don’t do that. So when chemo is given your body has a protection for the healthy cells and the cancer cells are more vulnerable. I have friends who did it and on the cycles they didn’t fast they felt worse. Several journalists have written about it too and done it. Fasting for 48 hrs before and 24 after. It all makes logical sense when you read about it! So I’m going to try it for sure! Like you said I lost my appetite with anxiety over the whole business anyway!! Diabetics shouldn’t do it but it helps chemo work too. Happy Friday! Raining here ugh xxxx

  • I had the eyebrows microbladed so it lasts 18 months. I hope mine don’t fall out but told they will:( microblading hurt like crazy... wasn’t prepared but they look better than before anyway. Hair is weird - you used cold cap? I think it does come out in clumps I probably won’t use cold cap as it’s going to come out anyway or look tufty which is weirder!!!

  • I know three people who used cold cap and they kept hair it just thinned. I’m not brave enough I hate feeling cold and freaked enough about the chemo to be honest. I know it’s going to be crap when the hair comes out because then you feel.. yep it’s cancer! But I have to remember nurse said I was most likely free of it and doing it to lessen risk... I’m s bit up and down one minute - yes I can do this then next..not so upbeat! Just need to get on with it. You sound upbeat! Good girl! Xxx

  • Thanks for encouragement it means a lot. Think I’m starting on 28 feb... I know it’s a Thursday as they let me choose the day so think that’s the one. Starting on 75% of dose for first one, so maybe it won’t be so bad. Going to try and keep it at that level:) At least I got time to get a bit organized .. think they hate me as I questioned them so much about the reasons I needed it! And with the oncotype they don’t know much just what they’re told by the compsny who does it. But I’m sure some onco are better than others. But it’s our bodies isn’t it?!! At least puppy will be vaccinated by then and can go out:)

which is TC chemo? Mine is EC... don’t know why we having different ones! Check out the fasting thing just for fun! Hope you had good weekend. Xxxx

  • Also starting to warm towards using the cold cap .. strange way to phrase it but you know what I mean:))
