Help with caring for partner

Partners just diagnosed with sinus cancer.  Waiting on hospital  appointment. Finding it hard to stay strong for him.

  • Thank you for your honesty. It is hard to cope when someone you love gets diagnosed.

Do you have a good friend you can talk to? Any help from hospital?

I supported my Mum for nearly 6 years and was her main carer.

i suppose my best advice is to talk. Find that one person who concentrates on you first so you can concentrate on caring.

Keep posting here - they seem like a good bunch. Honest, helpful and caring.

You don't have to cope 100% or 100% of the time.

    Take care x

  • We are supporting our daughter who was diagnosed at 20, she's now 21. All I can say is be prepared for an emotional rollercoaster. Waiting for results is so stressful. Take the support offered, talk on here, Macmillan have been invaluable too, and stay positive. This is a journey none of us are prepared for, as a patient or a carer, but you will find support all around you. Don't be afraid to ask for it. Don't be afraid to find someone to talk to. So many of us have been affected by cancer and so many now come out the other side astounded by the professionals and people we have met.
  • My husband was told he had bladder cancer 2 weeks before Christmas and went in for a biopsy on 25th Jan. Still waiting for the results. It is hard to be strong and we're only human and can't be strong all the time. That's something I've had to learn...I consider myself to be strong but I've struggled to deal with this. Talk to people you trust, waiting is the hardest part, it's the not knowing that gets you :( Sending you love and good vibes xxx
