Just found out my mum has cancer

Hi there,

my my name is Emma and I have just found out my mum has cancer in her lungs liver and lymph glands and possibly her spine. She is 62 years old. These cancers are all secondary cancers they haven't found the primary source yet. I'm am. I am beyond heartbroken and don't know where to start with everything I feel like my whole world has just stopped and I cannot bear to think what will happen in the future I don't want to lose my mum. My dad is 82 and I am so worried about him and how he is going to deal with the whole situation. Any advice would be greatly appreciated on how can I deal with this and how can I make sure I make the most of my time with her x

  • Hi Emma,

I just wanted to welcome you to the forum and let you know that you are not alone.

Many members here will really understand how you are feeling right now having been in the same situation with their parents and loved ones and I'm sure they will reply soon to offer their support and advice. I have also found some information on our website about coping emotionally with a cancer diagnosis that I thought may help you and your family at this time.

Post as much as you want to Emma and remember that we are here for you if you need us.

    Best wishes to you all,
