Liver Cancer

Hi, dont really know where to turn, I found out yesterday that my sister has been diagnosed with Liver Cancer, I dont know much about it and dont want to do or say the wrong thing as she is really struggling with this herself, she's waiting for scans to decide treatment but she was admitted to hospital before christmas as she was vomiting large amounts of blood, she sunsequently had two blood transfustions, does this mean it is more advanced than we hope or what, any help from anywhere would really be useful right now, hopefully stop me feeling so bloody useless.

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat mazzeruk although I'm sorry to hear your sister has just been diagnosed with liver cancer.

Many members here have found that knowledge is power when it comes to coping with a cancer diagnosis and I have found a section on our website about liver cancer that may be useful at this time. Hopefully the information on the link will be able to answer some of the questions you may have at this time but if you're still unsure or would like to talk things through with someone do give our cancer nurses a call next week. They are available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m on 0808 800 4040, which is free to call from a UK landline.

There are a few members on the forum that have also been diagnosed with liver cancer and hopefully you'll get to meet some of them soon. Do use the 'search forum' option above to find other discussions about this as well.

    Best wishes to you both,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
