NEW COMER!! lung cancer in my right lung- advice please!!

I'm a little worried after reading what Leef has just posted!! Terrified about what's to come!  I have not had all the tests, just a CT scan at the local hospital yesterday.  Lung cancer!!! They have told me I will be contacted by 'The team' who will carry out varied tests.    Alas I can't comment any more as I'm so new to this.

  • Hi Arti,

"A little worried" is probably an understatement. I found the phase between preliminary diagnosis and receiving a detailed diagnosis, prognosis and treatment options to be about the most stressful times. Not knowing what will happen next is awful, especially after the shock of being told you have cancer for the first time.

Try to remember that everyone's cancer experience is unique, due to differences in our bodies and the cancers we have. Two people with very similar diagnoses and of similar ages and with similar levels of fitness can have vastly different outcomes.

This may sound obvious, but you may find that writing down any questions you have (and the answers you receive) might help. Taking someone with you might help too.

    Good luck

    Dave

  • Thank you Dave for your reply. I really do appreciate that. I will also be guided by you and write things down.  As you will appreciate my head is still whirling.

Alas my husband was not able to be with me yesterday, but, he will accompany me to as many future appointments as possible!

    Fingers crossed Ay!!

I hope ole things are going well with you.

  • You may find the forums on Macmillan website useful as there will be one for the type of cancer you have so you can ask questions specific to the treatment. When I was in for my last chemo infusion I was next to a lady 72 year of age who had lung removed via key hole surgery who was doing well she was having mop up chemo. . community.macmillan.org.uk/.../

  • Thank you for that! Sorry not to have repied earlier. I have looked on the Macmillian site and you are quite right, There are a number with lung cancer in a spacific group.   I have joined. Again thank you x x x
