Limited (Small Cell) Stage Surgery Positive stories?

Hello everyone and happy new year!

Just looking for some emotional support and positive stories. My mum (67) recently had lung surgery a couple of weeks ago to remove a cancerous tumour they found- and has recovered  well. We are waiting to hear when she will start chemo. Originally they assumed it was non small cell and that she would only need a surgery as it was only found as a tumour in one place, but during the surgery they discovered it was small cell. So she needs chemo incase it has spread and is too small to see on scans and/or as a preventative measure. Terrifies me reading the stuff on the internet about small cell but just need to have faith all will be okay! I haven't read any stories about people having surgery with small cell as they usually don't operate, so I'm looking for any similar or positive stories!

thank you in advance! X

  • Hello Rosy and happy new year to you too :)

I'm glad to hear your mum was able to have surgery to remove a cancerous tumour from her lung and she has recovered well. I know you've been doing some research online already but I hope the information I have found on our website here about chemotherapy and small cell lung cancer will help put your mind at ease.

I hope you get to hear from other members with this diagnosis soon but in the meantime feel free to look around the boards to find positive stories about small cell lung cancer using the 'search forum' option above.

Do keep us posted on how your mum gets on with the chemo, we'll be thinking of you.

    Best wishes to you both,
