Leaving a parent who has cancer

My dad has just been diagnosed with cancer and I have to leave him in just under two weeks. I'm a university student in my third year of a Modern Languages degree; therefore I have to spend the 2016/2017 academic year in Spain and Germany. I have already been in in Spain since September 2016 and I'm currently at home for two weeks, for Christmas. I have to go back to Spain, for a month, to do uni exams and then I have 6 weeks at home - in Ireland - before I go to Germany until August 2017   I don't know if I'll get to physically see or hug my dad again...and I don't know what to do or how to help him  so any tips or advice would be appreciated x

  • That's tough.

It might be worth talking to your tutor or someone else appropriate at the Uni to check what options are open to you. Even if you carry on with your studies as planned will you be able to produce a high standard of work n your final year, if your mind is at home and you're worrying about your Dad?

    Best wishes
