Hi everyone

My eldest sister was diagnosed a month ago with Stage 4 non small cell lung cancer. She had had a bad cold and a cough which started around end of September. After antiobiotics and stripes to try and clear the cough, and following an X-ray, which showed something in her lung, she was sent to hospital for more tests.

Devaststingly, a blood clot was found one one lung, and cancer in the other. After further and more detailed CT scans, cancer was found in her liver and bones. The doctors reckon she has had all this for at least 9 months.

As a family we are all in deep shock and devastated. She is now having chemo weekly.  She is quite breathless at times.

We have no idea on her outcome, just supporting every way we can through this awful time.

  • Welcome to the forum AmSalt,

I am so sorry to hear about your sister's diagnosis. It must be a difficult time for you and your family at the moment and I hope her chemotherapy treatment is going well without too many side effects.

You are doing the right thing in just being there for your sister and I am sure she very much appreciates your support. Many on our forum will know exactly how you are feeling at the moment and I am sure they will be along soon to share their experience of caring for a loved one with cancer.

    Best wishes,
