colon cancer

After joining yesterday I had a meeting with my nurse and consultant who told me Yes my tumour in the ascending part was stage iv and had gone outside the colon as a mass. He was also concerned that I had three glands in my neck that looked large. No trace in the liver etc. If the glands are affected its inoperable and he said it could be months, so now a pet scan is being organised to see if the glands are affected or whether they are large due to me being anemic and have a bad cold.

My stomach is swelled up and my coughing hurts it like hell. I hope this is not the end. Fingers crossed for my pet scan.

Feel scared but wife is supportive. Cant believe 18 months ago I had those poo samples done, all clear. Its so quick.

  • Hi YeOldeCodger,

I'm sorry about the news you received in the meeting with your nurse and consultant but it's good that there is no trace in your liver. I can understand why you're feeling scared but I want you to know that you're not alone. The community is very supportive and many members here will understand how you're feeling having been in similar situations themselves and hopefully they will post soon to share their experiences with you.

I hope the pet scan goes ok. We'll have our fingers crossed that the glands are not affected.

    Kind Regards,
