My doctor suspects basal cell carcinoma on my face

Hi everybody, having read the posts on here I  feel a little silly to worry about  the suspected basal cell carcinoma on my face. It is after all,... " the best cancer to get".....my doctors words, not my thoughts!

I have an appointment to see a dermatologist in January and I think that there  are a possible 3 more small spots that look the same way  the b. c..c  on my cheek first started . does anyone know if the dermatologist would do excision biopsies at that appointment or would I have to go back. They are all quite small but in awkward places next to eyes and nose.

  • Hi Symjam

At your first appointment the dermatologist will have a look to confirm the BCCs you have and check them closely with a magnifier. You will also have an all over check of the rest of your body to see if you have any other areas of concern. You may have a biopsy at the time or get another appointment for one. You will get the results in about 10 days. If positive you will be given a date for surgery under local anaesthetic. You can help prevent future recurrences by using suncream on you face everyday, wearing a hat and keeping out of mid day sun 10 till 3 in summer. Good luck with your treatment. Kim
