Prognosis

Hi everyone just wondered if someone could give me a timeframe on how long my prognosis will take.I was told 6 week ago had a shadow on my lung and lymph nodes  non operable  then had the ct scan followed by PET scan followed by  biopsy Ebus etc but on seeing my consultant for my results I was told the biopsy results had gone missing and was sent home none the wiser for another appointment to be made when they had located the results.2 days later I had a phone call saying all my biopsy results were negative and I now have to wait for an appointment to have a ct guided biopsy.Im now getting a little concerned about how long all this is taking as I'm no closer to starting chemo and radiotherapy

  • hi pip,  as my dad told me, and we experienced,   the waiting is the worst,  but never be afraid to give them a call to put yourself fresh in there minds, and to settle yours that things are still progressing,  sometimes the nhs is so overwhelmed, so many people needing help, but they do there best. if it was me, id make a phonecall today and ask when the  ct guided biopsi will be being done,   even if they cant tell you then, they will work on it, and thats what you need,  when its    your life,   your dealing with,  you do all you can to push it,    from experience      i had to do the same for  my husband, and now my dad,  youll be amazed what a bit of reminding and pressure can do....be strong, fight your corner, and never give up... i really hope thats helped be pro active     its your life......  cococat

  • I agree with  Cococat - ring them and hassle them until you get an answer from your Oncologist.

  • Unfortunately unless you shout at them and kick up a fuss they will keep you waiting.

The NHS is struggling and its survival of the fittest - patience won't do you any good.

I say this from experience as generally a very patient and tolerant person! Fortunately for me my wife isn't as patient, and she always made sure my case kept moving...
