uncle has a brain tumour, only 6-12 months to live.

Hi my uncle took sick a couple of weeks ago, we thought it was a bug but he kept getting headaches so he went to the doctors yesterday and was sent to hospital, today we got the most devastating news that he has a brain tumour covering the right hand side of his brain and there is nothing they can do for him. He has 6-12 months to live! How do people cope with news like this? I've been crying for hours now.  My uncle has never married or had kids and him and my mum are close (my dad died a few years ago so my mum and uncle went on holidays together and shopping).  I just don't know how to process this and how to move on, my uncle doesn't know and I think it may be to the best as he will really struggle to cope with such news.  Just don't know what is right or wrong to do for him.

  • hi julieann 1602, im so sorry to hear of your uncles brain tumour, yes it must be a big shock for you, im sure your uncles dr will tell him, and possibly draw up a way of finding out what kind of tumour it is, and possible steps of treatment that may be able to be taken. it is hard news to cope with. I wish you all the best, the nurses on this site are very good, if you have any questions you can click on, ask the nurse.
