Lung Cancer described on discharge notes

Hello

My 89 year old dad was in hospital last week and has been discharged awaiting an outpatient appointment. Doctors touched on the subject of lung cancer, discharge notes describe 3.4cm lesion plus smaller ones, malignant pleural effusion and that it is secondary to the lesion found. We just havent been told officially until their big meeting this week.

We are looking at lung cancer arent we? i just think its really bad that it is in discharge notes but weve been left waiting for an outpatient appointment without being told anything.

  • Hello sam4 and welcome!

Waiting for definite results can be so stressful and I hope you do find out soon what exactly these notes mean and what the official diagnosis is. When is the big meeting this week? I hope you don't have to wait too long now to find out all the details.

If at any point you wish to talk things through with our team of nurses, feel free to give them a call on this freephone number 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.
