Update on Breast diagnosis

Hi I just wanted to let you know the results came back.

one is benign the large one is cancer, stage 2. the HER2 result is not back yet but the other two receptors are not hormone dependent. I am seing the surgeon next week to find out the operation details also by then I should get to know if the HER2 is back. I feel verry positive about it all. I'm not sure why? He did say I will have a lumpectomy then, Radiation and it is this I could do with some tips on. as I am already dealing with illness that cause loss of energy, but I have experience of this and know how to handle it. I dont know how it is going to add to it having radiation as I live alone will I need help etc.? I do all for myself at the moment anything I cant do I just do without. I drive myself also and wonder will I be fit to drive? anyone know? thanks

  • Hi there, glad to hear that your results can be dealt with via a lumpectomy. I had bilateral radiotherapy after my op last year and found it tiring but very doable. I also live on my own and had a 75 mile round trip each day to get to the treatment centre so arranged my sessions for first thing as I am a morning person, I then had the rest of the day to rest and relax afterwards. The tiredness and sunburn tend to build up the more sessions you have and you will go on cooking for a couple of weeks afterwards too so be prepared for that. For now just take things one step at a time, it will be a great relief to have the op and to get rid of the little blighters and then you can concentrate on your recovery and the radiotherapy after that.  Take care  Sue x

  • Hi susu, Thanks for reply, I hope you are feeling better now, you certainly had your work cut out with a 75 mile day trip. I consider myself lucky I am only 5 miles away. thanks for the info it will help me plan the times if given a choice. your right one step etc. I was getting anxious. you take care of yourself xx
