scared and confused

Hi I went in as a volunteer to screening with thoughts I may have symptoms of Chromes they actually found a 10cm thin long tumour. Does this mean as is big it has spread and could be stage IV I am so scared and having panic attacks Last week I thought I was 55 and healthyish! Advice appreciated please x

  • Hi sjane

I'm not an expert but I don't think that the size of the tumour is always an indicator to whether it has spread or not.

I assume that you will be having scans for a full picture of what's going on.  This is the most scary part not knowing. Once you know exactly whats going on it will be easier I promise.

I was diagnosed the other way round I had a scan on my liver looking for gall stones but they found some tumours that had spread from somewhere else so I already knew my cancer had spread before they found the tumour in the bowel. I'm currently having chemo working towards shrinking the blighters so that surgery may be an option.

You might want to have a look on the "beating bowel cancer forum" as well because it's really helpful just Google it.

  • Hi

I am in a similar position. My cancer has been diagnosed through a colonoscopy. Ive had a ct scan but still having to wait for appointment this week to find out results. I too am suffering panic attacks and fear what i am going to hear. Two weeks ago i thought i was fit and healthy and this has been a big shock.
