Chemo cream

Hi everyone, I was diagnosed by post with Basal Cell Carcinoma in July but wasn't seen by Consultant until September who suggested I try 'chemo cream' first. The cancer is very treatable but I am still worried. I start using the cream after I get married on 7th November. Has anyone else out there had good experiences with the cream?

  • Hi Sue and welcome to Cancer Chat.

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis but I'm glad treatment is available. I have found a little bit of information about chemo cream on our website here if you want to have a look. It's understandable you may still be worried and many members on the forum will understand your concerns having been in similar situations themselves and hopefully those who have used this cream will post soon to share their experiences with you. Do feel free to call our cancer nurses as well if you want to chat about your situation in more detail. You can call them on 0808 800 4040 which is free to call from a UK landline Monday - Friday between 9a.m-5p.m.

    Best Wishes,

  • I have had a number of BCC's removed surgically and whilst this is a successful way of dealing with them I would happily give the chemo cream a try, far better than having another 3" or so long scar. You haven't said where your BCC is? I was very worried about my first one but as you said very treatable and rarely do they spread into anything more serious. My first one wasn't diagnosed for several years and I ended up having 3 removed at the same time, with a few more since.
