I'm really sorry that your father has been diagnosed with oesophageal cancer and that it has spread to his lungs and liver but it's good he's being looked after in hospital. I see you mentioned that the oncology team saw you for the first time yesterday morning. How did it go? I hope it went ok and you received some good news.

One of our members [@davek]‍ has had experience with this type of cancer and now that I've tagged him in this post I'm sure he will pop by to say hello and share his experiences with you. Other members will also know how you are feeling having gone through similar situations with their parents or loved ones and hopefully they will post soon to offer their support and advice as well.

So sorry about your husbands diagnosis i know what your goin thru my husband as just been diagnosed with pancriatic cancer I'm cryin most of the time to abd everything I eat tastes like cardboard.

I'm sorry to hear about your Dad's diagnosis and hope the appointment with the oncologist answered some of your questions. 

This sort of news takes a while to absorb. My case was slightly different to your Dad's as I had almost no symptoms, apart from chronic heartburn. My diagnosis was very similar though. 

I hope your Dad is coping OK with the shock of his diagnosis and gets the rest he needs. 

Hopefully, you will have spoken to the oncologist by now and know what the next stage will be. I had biopsies taken plus a CT scan before going onto chemo to try to shrink the primary and secondary cancers. 

Please don't hesitate to ask the oncologist any questions that are on your mind.To a certain degree she or he will give out as much or as little detail as you ask for. We were quite blunt in our questioning - especially about treatment options and differing survival rates for doing nothing and having chemo (the only feasible option for me due to the size and location of the primary).
