Stage IV Melanoma and brain metastases - what treatment?

Hi everyone,

My brother was diagnosed with stage IV Melanoma just over 4 years now, and has been fighting it by being part of lots of different clinical trials. But, he had an awful seizure the other day at home, and is now in hospital. He has just found out he has 4 tumours on his brain.

His previous TAC results (which were available at the time of the seizure) showed that the new combined treatment was working in his body and the tumours were not spreading and tumours started to shrink, but we have been told that the treatment doesn't work in the brain.

Just wanted to seek a bit of advice in terms of what treatment is the best option, as they can't operate as the tumours are in dangerous places. All I've read online is that prognosis is not good once you get brain metastases. Maybe up to 4 months life expectancy!

Are there any survivors out there with hope for my brother?  He has just turned 49yrs.

Thank you
