Mum diagnosed with Kidney Cancer (TCC)

Hi everyone,

My family and I just found out last week that my mum has been diagnosed with Kidney Transitional Cell Cancer (TCC) We also found out today that it is currently stage 3 and she has her appointment for next week to arrange a Biopsy. All I'm really looking for at the moment is to see whether anyone else has been diagnosed with this?

I understand that TCC is pretty rare and only about 7 out of 100 cases are this type of kidney cancer.  We know at the moment that it is in her Ureter and Kidney including lymph nodes in the kidney hence why it is stage 3 but other than that we are all completely clueless.

Can anyone share similar experiences of diagnosis/treatments etc?

Thank you for taking time to read this.

Sean.

  • Hi Sean,

I'm sorry that your mum has recently been diagnosed with Kidney Transitional Cell Cancer (TCC). Like you said it is quite rare but I have found some information on our website that may help you understand your mum's situation. You can read about it here.

I have had a look through the forum and have found a member that was also diagnosed with TCC. You can read more about their situation here. If you post on their discussion hopefully they will reply and try to answer any questions you may have. You can talk about your mum's diagnosis with our specialist cancer nurses as well. You can call them for free on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m-5p.m and they will be happy to discuss this with you.

I hope your mum's appointment goes ok. Do come back to let us know how she gets on with her biopsy.

Wishing you and your mum all the best,
