  • Hi Pinky,

Sorry to hear about your Father-in-Law. The best thing to do would be to talk to his care team. There's normally a lead nurse who is named as the person to go to with any questions but there is nothing to stop you asking whichever doctor is leading on his case. This would either be an oncologist or a surgeon, depending on how far into the cancer care pathway he has so far gone. In my case, the oncologist took over from the surgeon when surgery was ruled out as an option.

It is hard to guess why he hasn't been treated yet, there is an alternative reason and that is because his Oncologist is waiting for the results of tests and scans before he or she decides what treatment options should be offered. It was three or four weeks after my first biopsies before a treatment plan was offered.

His general levels of fitness and physical would also be taken into account when deciding what treatment to offer.

I hope you soon get the answers to your questions.

    Best wishes
    Dave
