Welcome to this forum allthough I am sorry to hear about your dad. I was also in my late sixties when I was diagnosed. I was started on hormone injections (zoladex) And my psa came down from 70 which is quite high to 3.18 before I started radiotherapy. A  few weeks after finishing radiotherapy my psa was only just measurable at 0.01. Cancer seems to need testoerone to grow and the hormone therapy stops the body producing it therby slowing the cancer growth down and in some cases even stopping it growing.

Your dad will soon probably start to have hot flushes which is a side effect of the hormone. They can be embarrasing for a man. I wish for good results for your dad. I am here to talk if needed. Best wishes to you and your dad, Brian.

My dad was also diagnosed with prostate cancer the beginning of July. He doesn't have cancer in his lungs, but it is in his bones and his lymph nodes. My dad has his first hormone injection and we find out if it worked in October. We did notice that the injection made his bone pain worse for a while. He had pain in his chest, so we had to go to emergency anf found out he has fractures in his ribs. I'm not sure if you're aware but I was told by the emerg doctor that my dad's bones are so weak that even if he coughs he could fracture a bone because of the cancer.
