Grade 1 breast cancer

Got my results on Wednesday,it's grade 1 cancer,no sign in the margin around the lump they removed but a small trace in one of th nodes they removed, it sounds strange but feel lucky, grade one as my surgeon referred to it is a lazy cancer that doesn't do very much,so 3-5 goes at radiotherapy and no chemo, started tamoxifen yesterday, first of 10years,just want to say that hearing the word cancer doesn't mean a death sentence,be positive and do what ever it take to beat it,

  • Hi Cjcoo,

I'm glad to hear that it is only stage one and there was only a small trace in one of the nodes which were removed. I don't think that sounds strange at all as the earlier it is caught and diagnosed the stronger the chances are of treating it successfully.

That's very true Cjcoo and I'm sure your approach to your situation and the outcome of your story will help others on the forum who may be in a similar predicament.

I hope all goes well with the radiotherapy and the tamoxifen and I look forward to seeing you spread your positivity around the forum soon :)

    All the best,

  •  I have grade one breast cancer too. Found out on Friday . Just waiting to find out if  if hormone therapy is suitable, Then WLE and radiotherapy.Surgeon is very positive about the outcome but this is all new for me and cant help feeling worried and anxious. Had a two week wait for biopsy results and  its left me feeling absolutely exhausted.!Now have to wait for hormone  results and next appointment.

  • Hi barpop,of course your are worried and anxious, who wouldn't be,it perfectly normal,I was very lucky was told on the day I had my appointment and byopsy done that they were sure it was cancer and would get my byopsy results on the Monday, this was the Tuesday, just to be certain, got it 2 days later, and was in to get lump and nodes out on th following Thursday so didn't have much time to worry, they took my contraceptive implant out to and tested my blood again, but havnt heard th results from them yet,go in on th 1st sept for bone scan and to meet th ontology team, then wait on starting radiotherapy, one of my friends had breast cancer, grade 3 ,5 years ago so have spoken to her loads an been into th local drop in center and had a chat,it's really good to talk to someone that's gone through it or knows lots about it,my family was in bits, even my niece who is a nurse,I had a auntie with it when I was very young but nothing on my mums side so it's not something my family has really had to deal with before, people all deal with it different,I've found if I keep busy am ok,it's when am sitting doin nothing that i start to worry,am back to work on light duties and want to keep working as long as I can, just to keep busy and I love my job so am happy to keep goin till I have to start treatment again, just had my proper first hot flush after 4 days on th tablets but if this is as bad as it gets I'll be happy lol, keep positive, and think of something nice you can do once it's all over,I've already decided after years of being scared to fly am getting my passport next year an heading somewhere warm,an getting my eyebrow tattooed soon, after all what could b more scary that what we are goin through,

my thoughts are with you and hope it all goes well and you can kick this thing, xxx
