Oncotype DX test

Hi everyone

very new to all of this, was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in June had a lumpectomy 4 weeks ago and was told a week later that they are sending a sample of the tumour to the USA to do an oncotype dx test. Since then I have heard nothing. It is like I have fallen off the face of the earth. No one has contacted me and I feel I have been forgotten.

Has anyone else had this happen?

  • Hi Puglady,

I'm sorry you haven't heard anything since the sample was taken. If you haven't done so already maybe you could chase it up with your doctor and see if they are able to update you on the situation. Also many of our members have been in a similar position and know how can frustrating it can be waiting for results. I'm sure they will be along soon to offer their advice and share their experiences with you.

Please keep us updated and let us know how you get on.

    Wishing you all the best,

  • Well I got my results today and it's not good my score was high 69 so they are recommending chemotherapy . But first they want me to have a scan on my heart so make sure I am healthy enough to take the chemo and then I am to have a port attached to me so they can administer the drugs. I have also been offer to have my chemo at home ! They want a decision on what I want to do, any advice?

  • Hello Puglady,

I am sorry to hear about your results. I would suggest you give our expert cancer nurses a ring on this free number 0808 800 4040, you can call them Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and they may be able to advise you on this. You can also post a question for our nurses in our Ask the Nurses topic area.

    Best wishes,
