just thought i would put this out there as of 1530 yesterady I was told by the Consultant that I have Prostate cancer. The journey into this particular pit started about six weeks ago when I went to the GP for a totally unrelated issue. My first one appointment since I had a lodged Kidney stone. Two and a half years ago.
Whilst sat there I mentioned that my urine flow was not as strong as it used to be and after asking. If I got up during the night? Had trouble going? Dribbling etc? To which my answers were all no he decided to Ere on the side of caution and to give me the blood test for PSA.
Needless to say that came back a few days later and he called me to the surgery wherupon he told me that my PSA was 32. Shock!
After that bombshell I waited approximatly six weeks before seeing the Consultant who did the finger check (prostate swollen)the urine check(which was clear of infection) he took more blood to recheck the PSA, but as I was sat there he near enoughh told me that I would be going for a Biopsy.
A week later the letter duly arrived informing me that my PSA was still raised (not actually what it now was) and I was booked in for a TRUS Biopsy in the local hospital in two weeks time
Went for the Biopsy and found that it was painless, if embarrasing, and I counted the clicks of the gun as it was fired each time a sample was taken. Fifteen in all.
waited five weeks this time and was called into the Consultants office at the local hospital and I was immediatly told it was cancer and that my PSA was still in the thirties and that my gleesan (not sure weather he said Gleeson or cancer) score was 7 which I believe places the cancer in the intermmediate range (which means nothing to me) he then informed me that within the next two weeks I will be going for an MRI and then a Bone scan and after that they will all sit around with the Oncologists with some tea and biscuits and discuss how they are going to Nuke me. He did give me the three things that they were likely to do. Radiation, surgery or the Rad in the pellets(can't be bothered to look it up)
I will let you know what happens but I am still puzzled as I still have no symptons whatsover, apart from the slightly reduced, and I mean slightly, urine flow, and sometimes even this appears nearly normal and I actually had a more restricted flow during the kidney stone episode. What wuld have happened if the chance remark to the GP was not made? Does not bear thinking about
