My wife, 47 was operated on 18th May 2016 for a presumably benign ( But big 10x11x12 Cm) tumur in her uterus. It was a planned open abdomen hysterectomy. Operation was planned from 3 PM to 5 PM. At about 4.45 PM I got a call from the doctor from OT that she has alomost completed the operation, removed the tumur and uterus, one overy and was about to close the operation. She said she was just waiting for the frozen section report as per protocol. After 15 minutes the dreaded call came form the doctor. She said that frozen section report came and it has turned out to be High Grade Entometrial Stromal Sarcoma. We were deavastated to hear this. Me and my two daughters standing in the waiting lounge started weeping and were numb for about an hour. Doctor informed that she had called an oncosurgeon to assist her in the surgery ( He was kept on standby). The onco surgeon removed 17 lymphs. Both overies , fallopian tubes, cervix were removed. The Histopathological Report came after six days. No nodes were found involved. It was again reported as high grade entrometrial sarcoma. Stage was reported Ib
Wife recovered well after main Surgery. Then the doc said that since it was high grade, Chemo is required. They sugested Ifosfamide + Adreamycin (six cycles on 21 days gap). 1st Chemo started on 21st day of the surgery. We have taken two cycles. We feel so lost. Do not know whether we are on right path. What is in store for us. Is this right teatment? Is the diagnosis correct or there could be errors ? What are the likely effect of the chemo? Will my beloved wife become disease free ? Need help...
