Hi all,
I have a thryoid nodule which I had a FNA (fine needle aspirate), I was told the results two days ago,
The doctor was not very clear, he said they have found cancerous cells and also used the term 'malignant cells', is this the same thing? what does it mean if I have maligant cells, does this confirm I have cancer? He told me they are ordering a very urgent CT scan to make sure it has'nt spread of my head chest abdomen and pevis, I then have a pre-op assessment on the 28th of this month to have part or all of my thryoid removed. he said it was a papillary lesion (the nodule). When i asked the dr is it cancer then? he replied its malignant cells. Im very confused as to if its cancer or it may lead to cancer. they will test the lump (nodule) when it is removed and decide if they want to use radio-active iodine.
if any one could shed any light on this, I'd be really grateful.
Thankyou
Natalie
