14cm Complex Mass

Hi, My 26 year old daughter has been experiencing horrific abdominal pain for the last few months. Despite several visits to the GP and two to A&E constipation was blamed. We paid privately for a scan which showed a 14cm complex septated mass on her right ovary and into the douglas pouch. We took the report to the GP which recommeded a rapid referral, blood tests for tumour markers CA125 and CA19-9,it also recommended an MRI or CT and open surgery. He also said she would almost certainly lose at least one ovary due to the placing of the mass. Bloods were taken the next day and the referral has been made. What sort of timescales is she looking at. It is so worrying and to be honest it's like being in a parallel universe ! Thank you for reading my post - any advice would be gratefully received.

  • Thank you everyone for your messages of support - I will certainly let you know how things go x

  • Hi everyone, We went last Thursday to see the consultant for the results of the CT scan. The consultant is quite sure it is not cancer although there are large cysts on both ovaries and signs of severe endometriosis. Her ca125 levels were higher than the first blood test, however, he assures us this is normal and is probably due to the endometriosis. Melissa is to have open surgery to have one or both ovaries removed along with cysts and as much of the endometriosis as they can remove. She will probably have to have some bowel repair during surgery too. Whilst we are relieved that she most likely doesnt have cancer the prospect of her losing her ovaries at such a young age is frightening and upsetting. Thank you for your support x
  • Hello! How is your daughter :) sending love and good wishes. I've just found a mass on my ovaries and on the two week rule for a scan, obviously worried.
