  • Hi charl2210,

Welcome to the forum although I'm sorry for the reason it has brought you here.

Deciding whether to have chemo can be difficult but it's great you're trying to find out as much as you can about it so you can help your grandad make his decision.

We have some information about chemotherapy for prostate cancer on our website which might help. You can click here to find out more. Also one of our members, [@woodworm]‍ might be able to help too.

Now I've tagged him in this post he should hopefully pop by soon to say hello and share his advice and experience with you. He might even be able to connect you with other members on the forum who have also been in this situation.

Please come back and let us know what your grandad decides to do.

    Wishing you all the best,

  • Hi Charl,

Welcome to this friendly forum. I cant really help you with regard to chemotherapy as I didnt have it when I had treatment for my prostate cancer; all I had was hormone therapy and radiotherapy. But my brother in law had chemo for prostate cancer and had hardly any side effects at all. It just proves we all react differently. Not everyone has all the side effects so its a difficult choice. If I was in your grandads place, I would try it for if the side effects do effect him he can always stop the treatment.

I have made a good recovery and had very good treatment from all levels of the NHS.

Please lets us know what he decides. I wish him all the best, Brian.
