dad has cancer

Hello

Last week, my father was diagnosed with advanced lung cancer, he is in his mid 70's and he is not yet aware of his condition. Still under shock and dont know how to break the news, my mind is numb and cant function properly... If I feel the way I do now, I can't even imagine how he will feel when he knows... Going through the posts in this forum, I cannot but to admire the support, strength and courage you are all showing

  • Hi there,

Just wanted to post to say how brave everyone is and how completely unfair life can be.

My Dad was diagnosed two days ago with cancer of the thorax region, throat at present we are all awaiting results of CT scan to see exactly where it is, being supportive but breaking inside as he really is my hero. I have just had a baby and so want him to be around to see him grow up.

No idea what to expect in the coming days, no idea what happens next but I know he is scared, but putting on a brave face although 74 years old he has never been a drinker nor smoker, he is a kind hearted, thoughtful man who helps all his elderly neighbours trim their hedges (bless him doesnt see himself as old) and like everyone, just doesn't deserve this.

    Hi,

So sorry to hear about your dad. same here- dad is only 70 and never been a smoker but has been diagnosed with throat cancer on the weekend. He has to have voice box removal next week which is scaring me but am pretending to be postive and putting a brave face on everything but can't stop thinking about it and how unfair it is. My dad is the same - doesn't see himself as old and putting a very brave face on but scared it's not sunk in for him either yet (all too fast.) Hoping his positivity will help him get through next week. x
