Prostate cancer

Diagnosed in Oct aged 43. Gleason of 6, on active surveillance. MRI in Jan, large tumour found so template biopsies booked in to test whole prostate and see if gleason has raised. These were done day surgery 3 wks ago now, still no results. (Had biopsies done Sept results were back in a week, apt to discuss few days after). Why are the results taking so long!

  • hello,

i also am 43 with a gleeson score of 6, i have other medical issues so am not fit for robotic removal (first choice).then decided to go down the root of brachytherapy, the specialist there told me that my cancer might not get worse, but i should be ok for 10-15 years...so they resommended active surveilance....(but how are your stress levels with this, and why did you chose active surveilance over removal)

  • Active surveillance was recommended coz of age and score of 6. Once tumour found via MRI things have changed dramatically. These template biopsies took 3 wks for results and hosp rang today to say results were back and can I attend tomorrow morning. Time will tell. Anxious
